For more than 25 years, Athena has been constantly investing in cutting-edge production technologies for cylinders and components for IC engines destined to manufacturers.
Athena is able to guarantee co-design and complete turnkey systems to all manufacturers seeking new thermal groups, both for mass production and for racing applications, as well as the development of bench tests for same.
Our cylinders stand out for their lasting, reliable performance. They are made in primary aluminium alloy, coated in nickel (Motor-Nicksil®) and machined with ultra-modern, state-of-the-art systems.
The galvanic and production processes we use are constantly monitored by chemical and metrological laboratories to ensure the utmost quality.
Consolidated know how and a deep passion for the world of engines mean our team of design professionals knows customer all about needs and together with the latest developments, we transfer all this into the cylinders we produce.
We create 3D models and construction drawings in house, through to the complete definition of parts, co-designed with the customer.
A next-generation process that allows us to make prototypes for finished cylinders within a few days of formulating the technical or mathematical drawing.
Thanks to the use of cutting-edge technologies, we are able to create functioning prototypes and already usable in motor tests within a short timeframe.
Once the final shape has been defined, Athena has all of the skills needed to supervise equipment suppliers and partners who will be responsible for casting the rough cylinders.

A SPECIAL INNER COATING
The heart of the department is our line for galvanic preparation and deposit for the Motor-Nicksil treatment applied to the cylinder liner. The mix composition is unique and patented by our company.
The depositing process is constantly monitored by qualified personnel from our chemical lab, with the aim of obtaining a high degree of surface hardness and a resistance to wear that guarantee excellent performance, duration and reliability for engines.
An eye for details
Fine polishing cylinders and the resulting control of roughness parameters are constantly monitored through dedicated instruments. There are also automatic systems for tightness tests, with controls in line and at the end of the process.
A vanguard metrology room, complete with roundness measurement devices, roughness testers and CMM dimensional control machines, ensure maximum quality for all products.
Inspection and approvals tests in our testing room
Athena has a range of engine testing rooms, dynamic benches and qualified staff to test products and accompany the customer in every step of the vehicle-type approval process.
