What is EPDM Perox?
EPDM Perox (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer peroxide-cured) is an advanced variant of standard EPDM, characterized by superior chemical and thermal resistance due to the peroxide vulcanization process.
This process provides a more stable cross-linked structure, giving EPDM Perox unique properties, making it particularly suitable for applications in extremely hot or chemically aggressive environments.
Advantages of EPDM Perox
Heat resistance
EPDM Perox can operate at temperatures up to 150°C (and in some cases up to 175°C), surpassing the thermal capabilities of sulfur-cured EPDM, which generally withstands up to around 120°C.
This makes it ideal for applications such as engine gaskets and exhaust systems, where temperatures can reach high levels.
Lower compression set
Thanks to peroxide vulcanization, EPDM Perox exhibits a lower compression set, meaning it retains its shape and elasticity better after being compressed for long periods.
This is crucial for applications where gasket integrity is essential to prevent leaks.
Chemical resistance
EPDM Perox is highly resistant to a wide range of chemicals, including acids, bases, alcohols, and glycol-based fluids.
This makes it an excellent choice for use in chemical plants, fluid transportation systems, and other industrial applications where contact with aggressive chemicals is common.
Durability and aging
The stability of EPDM Perox’s molecular structure provides enhanced resistance to aging caused by oxidation and ozone, ensuring a long service life even in extreme environmental conditions.

Limitations
Despite its many advantages, EPDM Perox is not suitable for applications requiring resistance to oil and hydrocarbon contact. In such cases, elastomers like nitrile (NBR) or Viton (FKM) would be better choices.
EPDM Perox is therefore an excellent choice for high-performance applications where durability, chemical resistance, and thermal stability are required.
