Athena Partner of the LEONE Project for the Development of Sealing Solutions for Electrolysers
17 June 2026
Athena is a partner in the LEONE Project – LEan Optimisation of Novel Electrolysers, an initiative aimed at applying Lean Production principles to electrolysers, with the goal of reducing the number of components, standardising production processes and increasing flexibility in response to future hydrogen demand.
Within the project, Athena is involved in the study and development of new materials and sealing systems for electrolysers, as well as in the development of the related assembly process. The company’s contribution is part of a continuous improvement approach, with the objective of developing increasingly high-performance, efficient and sustainable components for hydrogen production.
Led by Pietro Fiorentini as project coordinator, the initiative involves Athena together with 2RZ, the University of Padua – Department of Chemical Sciences, and Fondazione UniSMART.
The LEONE Project – LEan Optimisation of Novel Electrolysers is part of the Coesione Italia programme and is funded by the European Union, with the involvement of Regione Veneto and AVEPA.
Through this initiative, Athena confirms its commitment to developing innovative industrial solutions in support of the energy transition and the renewable hydrogen supply chain.
